A clever button is no fun if using it means writing bytes into registers. KorryBus, the ESP32 library, makes it read almost like a sentence:
bus[0x10].top(Color::Amber, Blink::PulseSlow);
bus[0x10].onPress([]() { Serial.println("pressed"); });
begin() finds every button on the bus, update() fires press and release events and keeps the blinking in sync, and learn() walks you through adding a new button.
A careful review before calling it done turned up eight real bugs that normal testing never showed. My favourite: if only the ESP32 restarted, the library assumed every button was dark, while the buttons were still showing old colours, so it skipped sending colours it believed were already there. Now it always sends a button's full state once after a restart or any failed write.
